Get Stoa Poker

Stoa Poker is in open beta. Every one of the 12 skills is unlocked, there’s no charge, and there’s no trial clock running in the background. In exchange we’d like to know what’s confusing, what’s wrong, and what made you close the app.

On iPhone or iPad

Install the beta through TestFlight

Two things about TestFlight before you tap:

  • TestFlight is Apple’s own beta app, and it’s free. If you don’t have it, the link sends you to the App Store to get it first, then back to Stoa Poker. It’s two installs the first time and one tap every time after.
  • Beta builds expire. Apple caps them at 90 days, so every so often TestFlight will tell you the build has run out and offer you a newer one. That’s normal, not a bug, and your progress isn’t affected.

On Android

You can’t install Stoa Poker on Android by yourself yet. We’d rather say that here than send you to the Play Store to find nothing.

The Android build is in Google Play internal testing. That’s the earliest Play track, and it has no public join link: we add testers one Google account at a time, by hand. So there’s no install link to hand you. There is a way in.

If you want in, give us the Google account your Play Store uses. It’s often not the address you’d reach for. We add testers by hand, in batches, and we’ll write back either way. Once you’re in, the app installs from Play like anything else.

On a computer

Stoa Poker is a phone app, built for the ten minutes before a game, not a desk session. Point your phone’s camera at the code below to open the TestFlight link. On Android, read the section above: there’s nothing to scan yet.

What you’re installing

12 skills, in order
From which hands to open through board reading, opponent types, bluffing, and full-hand strategy. Each one drills a single decision until it's automatic.
Drills, not videos
The app deals a spot, you pick an action, and it tells you why that held up or didn't, before the next hand.
Review that finds you
Spaced repetition resurfaces the skills you're due on, so the early ones don't quietly rot while you work on the later ones.

It also works offline. All the training runs on your phone, so a bad signal at the card room doesn’t stop you.

Built to be usable

Not a feature list so much as a floor we hold ourselves to:

  • A colorblind palette with no red/green pairing, for red-green color blindness
  • WCAG AA contrast on every action color, verified, with the tightest pairing at 5.56:1
  • Large text supported to 1.6×, tested down to a 320px-wide iPhone SE
  • Light and dark themes, and the app remembers which you picked

What Stoa Poker is not

  • Not gambling. No real money, no play money, no wagering. Nothing to win or lose.
  • Not a solver. It teaches the decisions a recreational player actually faces. If you want GTO range grids, you want a different tool, and you’ll get more out of that tool after this one.
  • Not a hand-history analyzer. It doesn’t import your sessions or read your tracker.

Tell us what’s broken

This is the part that makes a beta worth running. Email hello@stoapoker.com with what happened and what you expected instead. Screenshots help. You can also send one from inside the app: take a screenshot, tap the thumbnail that appears in the corner, then tap Share Beta Feedback. It attaches the shot for you.

Most useful of all is where the teaching was wrong: a drill that graded you in a way you don’t agree with, or an explanation that didn’t land. Those are the reports we can’t get any other way.
